How is Whisk(e)y spelt with the ‘e’ or without it? • He Americans & the Irish spell it with the ‘e’ whereas the Scottish along with other 3 major whisky producing countries India, Canada & Japan spell it without the ‘e’. • The one without the ‘e’ is adopted fairly across the globe & its spelt the same. • But whiskey is spelt both the ways & it all matters with how it is brewed. • Whisky is a serious kind of alcoholic drink which is an alcoholic beverage that is distilled and fermented from grains such as barley, rye, corn and wheat. • This is again adds value as it is aged, generally whiskey is aged in charred oak cask that inhibits the brown colour to it. • Whiskey is associated with old men & this is the spirit the is considered to be consumed by matured men.

  7. Bourbon Whiskey • Bourbon is an American whiskey they are produced anywhere in United States, but widely in the Kentucky. • The state of Tennessee has a different taste of Bourbon. The procedure that the whiskey undergoes during its production gives the style, taste & variety to the bourbon. • A bourbon should definitely consist of 51% corn and then the rest can be barley, rye and /or wheat for the fermentation process that it should undergo. • The Whiskey produces in Tennessee goes through a charcoal filtration before they are stored in the casks. • The ageing of a Bourbon must be nothing less that 2 years in a fresh toasted casks made with American white oak which gives it the taste & style. • When a Bourbon whiskey is not blended properly it is known as the straight bourbon. The Mint Juleps has bourbon as its main ingredient. The best of the Bourbon makes way to the mint juleps to taste better.

Canadian Whiskey • The Canadian Whiskey is similar to their Scotch counterparts in the ageing of years, which is nonetheless that 3 years. • These are a brewed with corn and rye only which makes it smooth and light as a drink. • They generally do not have any storage criteria link white oak or cask with predetermined quality to give it the style & taste, this actually is inhibited from the high percentage of corn & rye mix where the corn takes a precedence.
