Director of Ambassador Program • Thirty five Ambassadors serve the college by assisting undergraduate recruitment efforts, alumni activities, and career fairs • Develop leadership and team-building activities • Host Welcome Social for incoming freshman and transfer students (250+ in attendance) • Service and agricultural educations projects for the community B.S. 1999 (Animal Science)University of Central Missouri M.S. 2001 (Animal Science) Kansas State University Coordinator of Special Events • Plan annual Scholarship Banquet for donors and students (400+ in attendance each year) • Plan annual Fall Kickoff Picnic for students, faculty, and staff (1000+ in attendance each year) • Plan annual Outstanding Senior Luncheon and assist with college Commencement Ceremony • Assist in planning college and departmental special events and dedications Director of Alumni Relations Coordinate all activities of the College Alumni Organization (CALSAO) and its Board of Directors Assist board in organizing annual Scramble for Scholars golf tournament Plan and travel to alumni regional events in the Commonwealth featuring speakers from campus and highlighting off-campus facilities and programs Plan annual Alumni Awards Weekend Coordinate marketing efforts of CALSAO through online and print media outlets and displays Cultivate and secure sponsors for various events; cultivate donors for CALSAO endowment funds NEW! Coordinate alumni and special events for the College of Engineering Dean’s Office and Development. Establishing a Recent Alumni Network in order to broaden our focus to garner more involvement with our recent alumni, both undergraduate and graduate. Pinehurst Chapter Hokies for a Hungry Sandhills food drive • 50 chapters participated in community service projects in 2009-2010 • 7 chapters held their first community service event • Increase of nearly 25% in number of service projects from 82 to 101 • Goal for 2010-2011 is to have each chapter participate in a community service project at least once during the year • Ut Prosim Update, an on-line newsletter meant to connect service among alumni and students. • Published 4 issues

Consultant hired effective Sept 1st and is housed two days a week in Holtzman Center. • Focus areas of the program are: • Website – www.alumni.vt.edu/career -Revamped with content for alumni looking for jobs or changing careers. Includes assistance with networking, interviewing, resume writing, etc. Webinars on relevant career topics and ideas are included. • Marketing – A job board containing numerous job openings on Hokie Nation Network is critical in serving our alumni career needs. Marketing campaigns and incentive programs are currently underway to populate the Hokie Nation Network with additional alumni profiles and job postings by employers. • Personal assistance – responding to phone calls and emails from alumni and recruiters, presenting the program at chapter events where career related topics are featured, and creating articles and newsletters to inform Hokies about the program are key success factors . Alumni Career Resources • Supports all Virginia Tech alumni • Job postings for experienced personnel are featured on “HokieNation Network” • Counseling services are referred to trained career counselors • VT Career Services • Supports Virginia Tech students and recent grads • Job postings for university hires are primarily featured on “Hokies4Hire” • Career counselors are available for on-campus sessions Similarities and Differences in Alumni Career Resources Program and Virginia Tech Career Services Collaboration with VT Career Services, sharing information on relevant programs for both audiences, and maintaining synergy and communication is important to provide alumni with beneficial services.
