  1. Greenwich Low Emission Neighbourhood

  2. Low Emission Neighbourhood - background The Royal Borough of Greenwich is creating a Low Emission Neighbourhood (LEN) in Greenwich. The project is funded by the Mayor’s Air Quality Fund and will last from April 2017 until March 2019.

  3. Low Emission Neighbourhood - map Orange areas represents the wider ‘neighbourhood’ which will include a variety of initiatives contributing to overall improved air quality across the whole LEN zone Blue area shows ‘core’ zone of LEN bid where the majority of measures will be located. This includes Greenwich town centre and Trafalgar Road, two of the Borough’s air quality ‘focus areas’, delivering a linear area of significant air quality improvements

  4. Low Emission Neighbourhood – key aims • Improve local air quality • Create a human friendly environment • Increase safety on local roads

  5. Low Emission Neighbourhood - measures The Greenwich LEN will focus on 3 areas: • Smarter Movement - Support low emission travel within the LEN • Smarter Places - Create healthier, greener places for people • Smarter Technology - Use latest technology to reduce local emissions

  6. Greenwich LEN – Smarter Movement • Electric vehicle (EV) car club – a low emission version of the business model popular in London • Electric vehicle charging infrastructure – supporting residents wanting to make the switch to an EV • Electric bike resident loan scheme – targeted at motorists to reduce local car journeys

  7. Greenwich LEN – Smarter Movement • Zero emission delivery service – a local alternative to reduce local emissions created by deliveries • Personalised travel planning – working with residents, schools and workplaces to reduce their transport emissions

  8. Greenwich LEN – Smarter Places • Gateway schemes – two key junctions in the LEN will made safer and easier for pedestrians & cyclists to use • Walking & cycling improvements – better conditions for pedestrians and cyclists on key local routes

  9. Greenwich LEN – Smarter Places • Pocket Parks – urban spaces will be transformed into 2-3 mini parks, green spaces for local people to enjoy • 20 mph zones – safer streets make it easier to travel on foot or by bike, whether to school, shops or work

  10. Greenwich LEN – Smarter Technology • Smart incentives – a free app where residents can earn rewards for walking and cycling • Smart parking – applying smart parking technology to improve parking management and support electric vehicle usage
