Marc Brown is the author and illustrator of the famous Arthur books.. Marc was born in 1946 in Erie, Pennsylvania.. When Marc was a boy growing up in Pennsylvania, his Grandma Thora told him stories. He says she was the best storyteller ever! Marc gave Arthur's Grandma the same name!. Marc began telling stories when his first child, Tolon, was born. He loved to make up bedtime stories for him every night. .
