  1. Innovations in Warfare during World War I By:BlazeAlesch

  2. Background of WWI • WWI was a very long war that was present from 1914 – 1918, fought in most of Europe. More than 70 million personnel were mobilized in one of the largest wars in history.More than 15 million people were killed making it one of the deadliest wars in history! This war was known as the World War I, the Great War, the World War, and also the War to End All Wars.

  3. Trenches • Trenches were a great source of an escape route for people to get away from there enemies. • They were also used for cover and to dodge the bullets from the machine guns soaring over their heads during battle. • Example: While people were getting shot at, they could jump into the trench for cover and run to where ever they wanted .

  4. The Tank • The tank was invented in 1916 • It was very durable and almost indestructible. • It could pretty much travel anywhere you would like to go; even through buildings. • People also could travel by it on foot since it was not very fast and use it for cover and get away from bullets since it was very durable and the bullets would bounce off of the tank. • Example: If the people on the tank needed to get somewhere quickly with no paths or routes, they either could simply point at a building and shoot a hole through it or just knock it down by meeting the building head on.

  5. Airplane • Used to bomb other enemies, fight in the air, and also to scope out other enemy sites. • Very fast and hard to shoot down. • Very durable. • Planes also were used to transport very heavy equipment over seas to a location that needed machinery ASAP or that could not be carried by man or vehicle. • Example: When the Army was running out of troops, they would call back to their base and have more troops board a plane and jump out with parachutes attached.

  6. U-Boats • A.K.A “Submarines” • An underwater boat. • Caused extensive losses to Applied shipping. • Example: This type of boat could both travel above and below the water level but mainly below so it was not spotted by either planes or other ships. Its main job was practically to fire off torpedoes at other ships and put holes in them to sink them. “You sank my battle ship”

  7. Vickers Machine Gun • A water-cooled .303 inch machine gun. • One of the first machine guns ever invented. • Also one of the most destructive weapon behind the tank. • Usually needed 6-8 people to operate it properly. • Example: People would usually set the gun up on top of a ridge or platform where there is a clear view, then unload on the enemies.
