  1. Mission Trip 2013 Informational Meeting 9.16.12

  2. Where and When • Welkom, South Africa • The Pines Christian Care Center • 10 days (12 including travel) within July-August, 2013

  3. Is a Mission Trip needed? • Two flats (living quarters for the orphans) and an activity room still need to be built. • The local church and children are blessed when groups come. • There is opportunity to minister the gospel and love of Jesus Christ in public schools.

  4. What will we do? • Child Care • Bible clubs • Homework help • Teen Ministry • Sports outreaches • Ministry in local church • Ministry in local schools • Maintenance and construction work on the Pines facilities

  5. Approximate costs (per person) • Flight $1,600-1800 • Transportation (in Africa) $125 • Food costs $15/day • Travelers insurance $40-50 • Total (Approximate) $2,100 • Other costs: • Passport $90-100 • Shots Depends on your preference and insurance

  6. Who and how many can come? • There is a maximum of 12 people per transport vehicle. (If we exceed 12 people that is OK, but transportation/ lodging costs will increase the price per person) • One person should be designated primarily as a cook (there will be other opportunities for the cook to minister and serve however)

  7. Immunizations • Make sure the following are up to date: • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) • Tetanus • Hepatitis A (2 shots, 6 months apart) • No others are required by South Africa or AIMI. However, the following are strongly recommended by AIMI: • Malaria pills (Welkom is NOT a Malaria threat – this is recommended only if we travel outside Welkom) • Hepatitis B

  8. Next Steps… • Prayer – Is this something God wants me/us to do? • Think and talk through the decision: • Time commitment • Financial and fundraising aspects • The benefit of you staying vs. going • Effects on family • Don’t hesitate to ask any questions you have. • Deadline for commitment: October 14
