It can keep the house warmer and here is why- 1. It helps heat move through your home- Carpets stop the heat from moving since it is an insulator. Wood flooring absorbs the heat and allows it to circulate. Contrary to the popular belief that carpets keep the house warm, it just reduces the flow of energy. Due to this factor, your furnace has to work much harder to push heat through the carpets and keep the entire house warm. 2. It provides heat that lasts- Due to the higher thermal mass of wood, it maintains heat longer than carpets. Wood along with the other solid materials like concrete, laminate, ceramic, tile reduce and control the temperature fluctuation because they absorb and store heat. On the other hand, the light fibres of the carpet act as a barrier. Investing in materials with high thermal mass is a wise choice because- a.
