  23. Questions & answers

  24. Q&A • What does fax server brings to the OmniTouch Unified Communications offer? •  Unified Communications / Unified messaging is defined as the integration of different streams of messages (email, Fax, voice) into a single in-box, accessible from a variety of different devices. Interaction with faxes has been already part of the OmniTouch Unified Communication for several versions, but it was relying on third party fax servers for the fax composition and fax reception. From UC release 5.0 Alcatel-Lucent will propose a fax server embedded in the Unified Communication product. • What do you mean exactly by “embedded Fax server”? • The embedded fax server is a full software product that can be installed on the same PC server than OmniTouch Unified Communications. The number of PC servers might finally depends on the number of users! For small or medium configuration (typically 500 user, 4 channels)this solution does not require additional PC server and no dedicated hardware board. • Is OmniTouch Unified Communications still compatible with other fax servers • Yes, OmniTouch Unified Communication is still compatible with other fax servers. Alcatel-Lucent is offering new facilities(infrastructure cohabitation, selling, maintenance) but still inter-works with existing third party fax servers. Customer running on previous version of OmniTouch Unified Communication with third party fax servers can fully upgrade to release 5.x. T38
