COPC Action Item 2007-2.16 • NWS cost and Schedule to convert to SFTP • NWSTG – None; already converted • NESDIS – Communicates through NWSTG • SFTP capability - $140K and 4 months • NCEP • Official Communication through NWSTG • HTTPS, SSH, VPN are available • Recommendation – Convert NESDIS to SFTP

Action Item 2007-2.4 • Documented Backup Procedures • DATMS-U Is The Most Reliable Link ~99.99+% • All Sites Can Use Internet For Short Term Backup • Capacity has expanded • May provide viable backup • Current Documented Backup Procedures Outdated • Based on Old data and results • Recommend semi-annual Backup testing • Create repeatable backup procedures • Eliminate bottlenecks

Action Item 2007-10.1 • Communications Bandwidth • Communications projections recalculated • Community activity still a work in progress • Consistent method to track bandwidth being tested • Interpretation must be consistent • Builds better ‘Big Picture • Site and Systems Accreditation are concerns for security and data throughput

Issues • Interagency Modeling CONOPS • Under review by JAG/OCM for potential file sizes needed for projections • Initial look • If GRIB 2 used • Bandwidth increase may be within projections • If GRIB 1 used • Initial projection is 3 to 10X current bandwidth • More data exchange will highlight bottlenecks • Increased use will accelerate DoD network changes

Issues • Meeting Friday with JAG/DISA/NWS 18 April • Discussed future of DATMS-U • Short and long term solutions • Diverse connections between DoD and NWS clouds • Action Items • On Scope Of All Team Members • Monthly teleconferences • Working relationships at TOC, Navy and AF excellent • “Spot” teleconferences key to information exchange • Information Assurance now engaged
