2. The Book of James “Self Seekers God Will Expose” By Pastor Fee Soliven James 3:13-18 Wednesday Night March 20, 2013

3.  13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom.

4. 14 But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.

5. 15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.

6. 16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.

7. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.

8. 18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

10. Matthew 6:19-21, 33 19 "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust

11. destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

17. without law will also perish without law, and as many as have sinned in the law will be judged by the law

21. 1 Corinthians 3:18-20 18 Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is

22. written, "He catches the wise in their own craftiness"; 20 and again, "The LORD knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile."

23. 16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.

24. Proverbs 24:1 "Do not be envious of evil men, Nor desire to be with them"

25. Galatians 5:24-26 24 And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

26. 1 Corinthians 13:4-9 4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in

27. iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues,

28. they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part.

30. Pure: To be fruitful for God, we must have moral and spiritual integrity.

31. Peace Loving: This is peace that goes beyond inner peace; it is opposed to strife. It is peace between people, and between people and God. It must be peace that affects the community. Christians must not only prefer peace, but they should also seek to spread it.

32. Gentle at all Times: This is the opposite of self-seeking. It does not demand its own right. To be gentle is to make allowances for others, to temper justice with mercy. It is the kind of treatment that we would like to receive from others.

33. Yield to Others: Heavenly wisdom is reasonable, flexible—willing to listen and to change. Just as good soldiers willingly follow orders from their superiors, people with heavenly wisdom willingly follow God’s orders and respond to his correction.

34. Mercy and Good Deeds: God’s wisdom is full of God’s gracious forgiveness. And his love leads to practical action, helping and serving others. We should be willing to forgive even when the problems we are facing are someone else’s fault.

35. God’s wisdom shows No Partiality: Meaning Single-Minded and free from prejudice toward people and without double-mindedness toward God.

36. Wisdom is always sincere, meaning “Unhypocritical.” God’s wisdom makes people genuine.

37. 18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

38. 1. Seek God’s Wisdom

39. 2. Admit Jealousy and Arrogance without trying to cover them up

40. 3. Create a Climate of Peace wherever God leads you

41. Matthew 5:9 "Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God"
