  2.  21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar?

  3. 22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect?

  4. 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness." And he was called the friend of God.

  5. 24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.

  6. 25 Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way?

  7. 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

  11. where is the lamb for a burnt offering?“ 8 And Abraham said, "My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering." So the two of them went together. 9 Then they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham

  12. built an altar there and placed the wood in order; and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood. 10 And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. 11 But the Angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said, "Abraham, Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am." 12 And

  13. He said, "Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.“ 13 Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram

  14. caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son. 14 And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, "In the Mount of The LORD it shall be provided."

  15. 22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect?

  16. Genesis 15:4-6 4 And behold, the word of the LORD came to him, saying, "This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir." 5 Then He brought him outside and said, "Look now

  17. toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them." And He said to him, "So shall your descendants be." 6 And he believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.

  18. 1 Thessalonians 1:3-6 3 remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father, 4 knowing, beloved brethren, your election by God. 5

  19. For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake.

  20. 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness." And he was called the friend of God.

  21. 2 Chronicles 20:7 "Are You not our God, who drove out the inhabitants of this land before Your people Israel, and gave it to the descendants of Abraham Your friend forever?"

  22. Isaiah 41:8 "But you, Israel, are My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, The descendants of Abraham My friend."

  23. 24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.
