  5. Using the further two sentences on the worksheet and your reading of chapters 2 and 3, what conclusions can you make about the character of Rachel Race? • Write a paragraph in your own words to summarise what you know about Rachel and what her character is like. Rachel Race

Rachel’s character changes in the opening chapters of the novel from being quite a passive character to becoming very determined as she finds a ‘strange calmness’ when placed in a terrifying situation. • Do you agree? What do you think about the character of Rachel? What are your first impressions of Rachel and how do you know?
