  2. On Attaining BuddhahoodIn This Lifetime

  3. On Attaining Buddhahood in This Life Time “If you chant Myoho-renge-kyo with deep faith in this principle, you are certain to attain Buddhahood in this life time.”

  4. This principle – the entity of your life is in fact the entity of the Mystic Law.

  5. “if you think the Law is outside yourself, you are embracing not the Mystic Law but an inferior teaching.”

  6. “It is the same with a Buddha and an ordinary being. When deluded , one is called an ordinary being, but when enlightened, one is called a Buddha.”

  7. The path of chanting entails a struggle to maintain faith that Myoho-renge-kyo exists within us and to defeat the fundamental darkness inherent in our lives.

  8. The actual practice of daimoku means chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo for all people - a practice aiming for the happiness of both oneself and others.

  9. Without a challenging or fighting spirit, we cannot attain Buddhahood.

  10. The Heritage of theUltimate Law of LifeFrom President Ikeda’s Lectures
