  1. TOC: SCIENTISTS /CELL THEORY2-13-14 Starter WHAT IS SPONTANEOUS GENERATION? SPONTANEOUS GENERATION STATES THAT SOME LIFE FORMS AROSE SPONTANEOUSLY FROM NON-LIVING MATTER. Obj: TSW research scientists by reading and completing the cell theory handout.

  2. PRACTICE • RESEARCH SCIENTISTS • GREEN BK. 185 • READ CELL THEORY AT BOTTOM OF PG 185

  3. APPLICATION COMPLETE “The Development of Cell Theory….” HANDOUT BY: • In the top rectangle-explain cell theory (3 components) • Record the nationality (where they are from) of each scientist. • Year • What did the scientist discover? • Summarize the cell theory paragraph at the bottom.

  4. Connection Explain the differences on how Spontaneous Generation relates to the Cell Theory. In the cell theory, all living cells come from other living cells (must be existing), but spontaneous generation stated that living cells arose spontaneously from non living matter.

  5. Exit • The scientist that said all cells come from other cells was named: • Rudolf Virchow • The scientist who said that all animals are made up of cells was named: • Theodor Schwann • The scientist who coined the term “cell” was named: • Robert Hooke • What is the process all eukaryotic cells go through to reproduce? • Mitosis
