  2. Holy Week • We remember Jesus’ suffering, death, and resurrection • Holiest week of the week

  3. Palm Sunday • First day of Holy Week • People used palms like a red carpet and said “Hosanna!” • Celebrate Jesus’ return to Jerusalem

  4. Holy Thursday • Also called Last Supper • Night before Jesus died • Jesus celebrated Passover with Apostles • Jesus washed the Apostles’ feet • Shared bread and wine which becomes Jesus’ body and blood (Eucharist)

  5. Good Friday • Jesus suffered and died on the cross • Nothing is on the altar • Venerate the cross • Listen to Bible readings • End of Lent

  6. Easter Vigil • Also called Holy Saturday • At sunset Easter candle is lit and carried into church • We think about the things Jesus did for us • Prepare for Easter • Church is silent • We sing Alleluia

  7. Easter Sunday • Stone is rolled away from tomb • Jesus rose from the dead • Gates of Heaven open • Alleluia!
