Groove to the Quantum Number Rag: A Fun Guide to Quantum Mechanics!

Feeling bored and lost in quantum mechanics? It’s time to dance away your blues with the Quantum Number Rag! This lively tune introduces you to the four quantum numbers that define electron configurations: the principal quantum number (n), angular momentum number (l), magnetic quantum number (mₗ), and spin quantum number (mₛ). Enjoy a catchy rhythm while you learn how these numbers describe the energy levels, shape, orientation, and spin of electrons. Don’t let physics drag you down—join the fun and master quantum numbers with flair!

  1. THE QUANTUM NUMBER RAG

  2. If you’re feeling kinda blue You’re bored and don’t know what to do If life is feeling like a drag It’s time to do that quantum number rag!

  3. Do that Quantum Number Rag And life won’t feel like such a drag!

  4. Don’t Let Your Brain Cell’s Slumber Do Sum Quantum Numbers Do That Quantum Number Rag

  5. The first Quantum Number Helps You Know How Far Out An Electron’s Gonna Go Now Listen ‘Cuase I Won’t Say This Again The Principle Quantum Numbers “N”

  6. The Second Quantum Number is Called ‘I’ It tells you the “shape” of the orbital. There are pictures in your text so you can see, They got names like s, p, d and f and g

  7. The third Quantum number’s “m sub l” It’s the orientation of the orbital. If you use this number and you’re smart, You can tell those “p” orbitals apart!

  8. The fourth quantum number you’ll never guess, It’s the spin quantum number, “m sub s.” It’s so easy it’s a laugh. It’s either plus or minus one-half.
