Major Themes • District • Communication has improved with the staff and community; improvement needs to continue. • School • Positive learning environment with an upbeat culture. • Need to update and increase technology. • Students • A strong desire to give students every opportunity to succeed. • Teachers • Hard working, caring, supportive, professional, exhibits teamwork.

Question #1Please describe the culture of your school and the District • School • Positive learning environment with an upbeat culture. • Diverse group of students at the High School level. • Teachers and support staff are professional, hardworking and supportive • District • Atmosphere welcoming and positive but communications could improve.

Question #2What are your hopes and dreams for your school & the District? • School • Students achieve their goals and succeed – No child left behind. • More vocational classes, expand the on-line options, increase technology • capabilities, stronger focus on math and science. • For the schools to excel. • District • A more unified district. • Strive for excellence in academics district wide.

Question #3What is going well at your school and in the District? • School • Special Programs (Character Counts, Walk to Read, Catch ‘em When They’re Young). • Discipline programs have improved, but need to continue improving. • Administrators, teachers & support staff work well together. • District • Development of Curriculum Maps. • Professional Development.

Question #4What aspects of your school or the District might benefit from change? • School • Increase the amount of computers available for staff & students and • update technology. • Continue to improve the discipline process. • District • Continue to improve communications for staff and the community. • Policies and procedures for purchasing need to be clarified and put into • writing.

  9. Question #5What expectations do you have of me as your new superintendent? • Have an open door policy. • Communicate with the staff and the community. • Be fair, respectful, consistent, understanding and open minded. • Spend time at the schools. • Be a strong leader.

  10. Question #6General Comments • The staff is looking forward to working with the new Superintendent. • Requests that the Superintendent get to know the staff and visit the campuses. • Appreciation was expressed for the Superintendent taking time to ask their opinions.
