  6. Irregular Nouns Irregular noun forms: • El lápiz • El mapa • El día Some nouns have identical masculine and feminine forms: • El turista/la turista • El joven/la joven • El estudiant/la estudiante • El chico/la chica

  7. Plural Noun Endings: • -s (chicos) • -es (comunidades) Nouns that end in a vowel form the plural by adding –s. Nouns that end in a consonant add –es. Nouns that end in –z change the –z to –c, then add –es. When a singular noun has an accent mark on the last syllable, the accent is dropped from the plural form: La lección → laslecciones

Ex: John went to the store. Definite articles, singular and plural: John carries the book. John carries the books.
