  5. Injury Report Jan 2014- Aug 2014 • In Jan 2013- Aug 2013 there were 54 new claims • In Jan 2014- Aug 2014 there are only 42 new claims • Report Army Injuries by Organization • Report Air Injuries by Organization • We will focus on trends

Injury Report Jan 2014- Aug 2014 Trends Suggest • Laceration of fingers, Hand Injuries, Back Injuries, Slip, trip, fall injuries due to icy conditions . • The need for more prevention/awareness to hazards in the workplace. • Emphasis on safety training and situational awareness • Coordinate with safety on combine feca-safety award!

Standards for Timely Filing Claim • Traumatic Injury- Reported on electronic injury form CA-1 within 30 days of the injury • Occupational Disease- Reported on electronic injury form CA-2 within 30 days of the injury • Medical signed by doctor or physician within 10 days of injury sent to JFHQ-J1-SVC.

  25. Timely Filing • Last FECA Council Observation: • Jan 2014- Aug 2014 timely filing wasn’t an issue with only 1 claim identified as untimely out of 42 claims filed! • That is awesome lets keep the urgency and communication on going!!!

  26. Cost Analysis State Assessment 2014 • Cost analysis reflect increase from last year chargeback by $ 40,788.78 from previous year chargeback cost. • 1 Temporary disability claim reported on long term rolls recipient is being worked with DOL vocational rehabilitation.

Challenged Claims • Injuries must be initially investigated by supervisor! • If claimant case is questionable supervisors must report facts. • We can challenge claims when filing the electronic CA-1 or CA-2 and provide supporting documentation • A safety investigation can either validate or challenge injury claim • There were three claims challenged from CY 2014!

  28. Challenged Claims Cont. • Of the three challenged claims all were further reviewed by the Department of Labor. • One claim did net benefits, agency challenged the validity of the claim process is being appealed by the employee to the Department of Labor. • The other two claims are still pending appeal by the injured employees with DOL.

Action Items • Future Leaning Forward: The purpose of this committee is to decrease the number of injuries and cost. • We have reduced the number of injuries but increase slightly cost! • Lets work together to reduce our cost and lower the number of injuries by the next FECA Committee Meeting!
