  1. Adam and Eve Receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ

  2. Adam and Eve Moses 6:9—“In the image of his own body, male and female, created he them, and blessed them, and called their name Adam.”

  3. “Duality of the sexes” In his grand design, when God first created man, He created a duality of the sexes. The ennobling expression of that duality is found in marriage. One individual is complementary to the other. In the marriage companionship there is neither inferiority nor superiority. The woman does not walk ahead of the man; neither does the man walk ahead of the woman. They walk side by side as a son and daughter of God on an eternal journey. Gordon B. Hinckley (1910-2008) President of the Church

  4. “Duality of the sexes” Marriage, in its truest sense, is a partnership of equals, with neither exercising dominion over the other, but, rather, with each encouraging and assisting the other in whatever responsibilities and aspirations he or she might have. (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Gordon B. Hinckley [2016], 157) Gordon B. Hinckley (1910-2008) President of the Church

  5. Adam Receives the Gospel Moses 5:4-9—Adam and Eve learn of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ (a complete submission to the Father for the salvation and exaltation of His children).

  6. Adam Receives the Gospel Moses 5:4-9—Adam and Eve learn of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ (a complete submission to the Father for the salvation and exaltation of His children). Adam and Eve are told: “Wherefore, thou shalt do all that thou doest in the name of the Son”—they are to offer the same sacrifice, consecration, and devotion as does the Son.

  7. Adam Receives the Gospel Moses 6:51-66—Adam and Eve are taught the process of spiritual rebirth (the power of Christ made possible through His atoning sacrifice to the process by man may overcome spiritual death)

  8. Adam Receives the Gospel Moses 6:67-68—Adam and Eve receive the temple ordinances—and become “sons of God.”

  9. Adam Receives the Gospel D&C 35:2 2 I am Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who was crucified for the sins of the world, even as many as will believe on my name, that they may become the sons of God, even one in me as I am one in the Father, as the Father is one in me, that we may be one. Moses 6:67-68—Adam and Eve receive the temple ordinances—and become “sons of God.”

  10. Adam Receives the Gospel Ezra Taft Benson (1899-1994) President When our Heavenly Father placed Adam and Eve on this earth, He did so with the purpose in mind of teaching them how to regain His presence. Our Father promised a Savior to redeem them from their fallen condition. He gave to them the plan of salvation and told them to teach their children faith in Jesus Christ and repentance. Further, Adam and his posterity were commanded by God to be baptized, to receive the Holy Ghost, and to enter into the order of the Son of God. To enter into the order of the Son of God is the equivalent today of entering into the fullness of the Melchizedek Priesthood, which is only received in the house of the Lord. Because Adam and Eve had complied with these requirements, God said to them, "Thou art after the order of him who was without beginning of days or end of years, from all eternity to all eternity." (Moses 6:67) ("What I Hope You Will Teach Your Children About the Temple, Ensign, Aug. 1985, pp. 6-10)
