ERP • Enterprise resource planning (ERP) is the planning of how business resources (materials, employees, customers etc.) are acquired and moved from one state to another. • An ERP system supports most of the business system that maintains in a single database the data needed for a variety of business functions such as Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, Financials, Projects, Human Resources and Customer Relationship Management

  4. ERP • allow every department of a business to store and retrieve information in real-time. The information should be reliable, accessible, and easily shared.

  5. Compiere • Open source Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)‏ • Modules : marketing and sales, field service, production, inventory control, procurement, distribution, human resources, finance and accounting • not designed for large enterprise software

  6. System Requirements • Operating System: Linux, Windows 2000/XP,UNIX, BSD, or Mac OS X • Database: Postgres , Oracle • Java : JDK

  7. Database installation The installation file is oracle-xe-10.2.0.1-0.1.i386.rpmavailable at http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/index.html for rpm installation $ rpm -i oracle-xe-10.2.0.1-0.1.i386.rpm After installation, configure the Oracle database with the following command: $ /etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure

  8. Database Installation • To set Oracle running at bootup edit /etc/profile as follows : Add the line at the end of the file: ./usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/bin/oracle_env.sh

  9. Installing JDK • Download lastest rpm from http://java.sun.com • Run ./jdk-1_5_0_06-linux-i586.bin • Add the following lines to /etc/profile: PATH=/opt/jdk1.5.0_06/bin/:/usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/bin/:$PATH CLASSPATH=.:$CLASSPATH JAVA_HOME=/opt/jdk1.5.0_06/:$JAVA_HOME

  10. Compiere installation • Download from http://www.compiere.org/download/index.html • Extract files by the following command : $ tar xvfz Compiere_253a.tar.gz • Server setup/Install by running : $ cd Compiere2 $ ./RUN_setup.sh

  12. Setting database • Enter the COMPIERE_HOME/utils directory and run the following script: $ ./RUN_ImportCompiere.sh • Run the following command in the utils directory: $ ./RUN_Env.sh

  13. Starting the compiere server • Enter COMPIERE_HOME/utils and run the following command: $ ./RUN_Server2.sh

  14. Client side • Setup client by running :$./RUN_Compiere2.sh
