Process: Selection and Application • Research institutions well (provide criteria). • Only institutions that offer financial aid. • Follow general admissions procedures. • Connect with the academic department. • Enhance applications (truthfully). • Send applications AND financial aid application at least one month prior to the deadline (ealier if possible). • Be prepared to ask for more. (PhD instead of just the master’s degree)

  7. Process: Tips • Get all elements of application package together very early in the process. • Exams • Letters of recommendation • Personal statements • Translations done

Financialaid GOAL MUST BE COMPLETE FUNDING WITHOUT USING OPPORTUNITY FUNDS • Must be complete: Tuition, stipend for living expenses for duration of study • Possibilities: • Complete assistantships • Partial assistantship; funding from another organization • Complete funding from a sponsoring organization • Loans? Watch out! • Last resort? Opportunity
