  2. Why are we here? 我们为什么会在这儿? • Library Assessment is a new topic? 图书馆评估是一个新话题吗? • No! 不! • It is not a one-time activity. It is an ongoing effort with the aim of keeping the library visible • 它不是一次性的活动,而是不间断的努力来保持图书馆可见 • in the community for continuing use • 对社区可见,以达到图书馆的持续使用 • in the authority for continuing financial and political support • 对当局可见,以获得持续的资金和政治支持 • We are here for ongoing discussion on 我们在这儿是为了讨论 • why do we need assessment? 为什么我们需要评估? • what we know about changing in public libraries? 对于公共图书馆发生的变化我们知道多少? • what we need to know about assessment within libraries is growing accordingly? 对于图书馆评估的相应变化我们需要知道什么? • and how to make it work in your context. 在您的具体情境里如何使得评估成功?

  3. Why do we need assessment?我们为什么需要评估? • Library assessment assists in 图书馆评估可以帮助我们: • Understanding user needs; • 理解用户的需求; • Improving library services; • 改进图书馆的服务; • Redefining library purpose and roles. • 重定义图书馆的目的和角色。

  4. Public libraries are changing公共图书馆正在变化 • Libraries are changing rapidly • 图书馆在迅速地变化着 • Product is no longer only content but experience • 产品不再仅仅是内容,而且包括体验 • Spaces must conform to new uses • 空间需要适应新的用途 (Trends in 21st Century Public Libraries) (21世纪公共图书馆趋势)

Library Assessment is growing accordingly图书馆评估也相应地发展 Library assessment is now an integral part of the effort to define the 21st century library; our tools, methods and applications are developing rapidly. They are needed for the strategic and systematic change that can ensure a vibrant and sustainable future for our communities and our institutions. Now 现在 • Policy makers and managers have needed to measure the performance of the library and the impact in terms of social and economic development. • 政策制定者和管理者需要测量图书馆的绩效和对于社会和经济发展的影响。 • Emerging methodologies to measure performance and impact. • 新兴的方法来测量绩效和影响。 • It is important to know the aims of the library and examine how the service meets its aims. • 了解图书馆的目的和审视服务是如何帮助达到这些目的的非常重要。
