  2. Whatare the researchstreamswehave to address? • Increasingadaptability and resilience to failures of Cloud infrastructure. • Cloud tends to centralizeratherthan to distribute • Single point of failure • Autonomicsystems (self-*) in large-scale infrastructures to copewithfailures, to bring down the maintenance complexity • New models and paradigmsneed to beinvented • Privacy-preserving service architecture for the Future Internet • Today, userslost the ownership of theirdata whenthey are communicated to the « cloud » • Privacy by design • Novelservice-based architectures able to copewithephemeral data as well as self-destructing data.

  3. Cloud Computingwithin EIT ICT Labs • A dedicatedresearch action line « Computing in the Cloud » leads by SeifHaridi (SICS) • Must deliver new technologies for a set of thematic action lines • Digital Cities of the Future, Health and Well-Being, Smart Energy Systems, Smart Spaces, Intelligent Transportation Systems, Future Media and Content Delivery • Integrate Cloud infrastructures with information-centric network architectures. • The host-centric networking paradigm has reached its limit. • Computational, storage and network capacities have to be unified and federated in their management making use of in-network caching, and supporting low latency distribution of data closer to consumers.
