  10. These are the times we share... First Grade Schedule 10:30-11:00 Recess 11:00-11:30 Lunch 12:15-1:00 Specials 1:45-2:45 Social Studies 2:45-2:55 Clean up, pack up, dismissal

What to expect in 1st grade: • HUGE growth in all areas! • Critical thinking: students will share and discuss their thinking in our subject areas. • Grades – students will earn percentage grades for assignments, tests and all homework. • Hands-on-learning. Learning concepts will be reinforced with concrete objects, experiments, songs, poetry, movement and FUN. • Technology integration into all learning.

  13. Expectations • Be on time to schoolto school everyday. The tardy bell rings at 7:40. • Be in uniform. • Be ready for the day with the necessary materials. (Finished homework, guided reading books, etc.)‏ • Try your best! • Cooperate with the teacher. • Act in a responsible manner. • Respect others. • Participate in class.

  14. Monthly hart Behavior Codes: I hurt a friend emotionally. I hurt a friend physically. I wasn’t following directions. I was talking out of turn. I was disrespectful. I did not have self-control. I was not doing my work. I misbehaved at lunch. I misbehaved at specials. I misbehaved in the hallway. I misbehaved in the restroom. I did not participate. Behavior C

Reading time at home should be at least 20 minutes a day. *Reading strategies to work on with your child *Sight word sticker book

  16. Homework • The newsletter will be sent home every Monday. • Conversation starters for each subject area • New sight words for the week. Math boxes will be sent home on Monday to be turned in by Friday. Additional math assignments may be sent home as prescribed by the curriculum. • Guided reading books will come home every night. • At least 20 minutes of reading a night • Sight word sticker book • Spelling practice and homework

  17. Dismissal Procedures Car Riders – If your student goes home in a car, they will need to stay with the teacher until their call arrives. Their name will be called when your car passes the teachers in the car pool line with the name tag in the window. The name tags allow us to move the line much faster please keep yours or ask for another if it is lost. Walkers – The students will be waiting beneath the trees for youlocated to the left of the school. Any changes in dismissal should include a note to the teacher.

  18. Volunteering We are asking for one hour of your time this year. We have multiple things that count as volunteering. We have things that could be done at home, at school or even on field trips. There may be times that help is asked for in the office, classrooms like music, art, or PE and even for PTA. There are lots of types of volunteering. Also, for every hour of volunteering we are offering an any day pass for lunch at school.
