In the shape of a butterfly • Imbedded is the Parathyroid Glands (4) • Is located in the neck under the larynx • There are three main parts to the thyroid -Left thyroid gland -Right thyroid gland-Isthmus • Wraps around the Trachea • The Parathyroids are located in the back of the thyroid.   3. Thyroxine(T4)-regulate body metabolism and the growth and differentiation of tissues. Makes up 65% of the hormones from the thyroid. • Triiodothyronine(T3)-regulate body metabolism and the growth and differentiation of tissues. • Calcitonin-The Hormone that lowers Calcium levels in the blood. Acts on bone cells. Hormones

  5. Anterior Pituitary TRH - Hypothalamus T3 T4 - TSH Thyroid Feedback Response Feedback control loops in the secretion of thyroid hormones.

  6. TSH-a thyroid simulation hormone secreted from the pituitary gland. • TRH-thyroid releasing hormones secreted from nerve cells. • They are both carried by the blood.
