  1. Divisibility Rules Standard: 7.1.5 Objective: To determine factors of numbers Essential Question: How do I determine factors of a number?

  2. Vocabulary Divisibility: to be able to be divided by another number

  3. A Number is divisible by 2 if: the number is an even number

  4. Example 1,046 is divisible by 2 because it is an even number ending in 0,2,4,6 or 8

  5. A Number is divisible by 3 if:the sum of the digits of the number is divisible by 3

  6. example 342: 3 + 4 + 2 = 9 which is divisible by 3, so 342 is also divisible by 3

  7. A Number is divisible by 4 if: the last two digits of the number are divisible by 4

  8. example 560 is divisible by 4, because the last two digits form the number 60 which is also divisible by 4

  9. A Number is divisible by 5 if: the number ends in a 5 or a 0

  10. example 685 is divisible by 5, because it ends in 5

  11. A Number is divisible by 6 if: the number is divisible by both 2 and 3

  12. Example 912 is divisible by 6, because it is an even number (divisible by 2) and the digits 9 + 1 + 2 = 12 (which is divisible by 3)

  13. A Number is divisible by 9 if: the sum of the digits of the number is divisible by 9

  14. Example 9,801: 9 + 8 + 0 + 1 = 18 which is divisible by 9 so the number 9,801 is divisible by 9 too

  15. A Number is divisible by 10 if: the number ends in 0

  16. example 470 is divisible by 10 because the number ends in 0

  17. A Number is divisible by 12 if: the number is divisible by both 3 and 4

  18. example 624 is divisible by 12 because 6+2+4=12 which is divisible by 3 and the last two digits are divisible by 4

  19. Guided Practice Divisibility Rules Worksheet 1. The number 168 is divisible by: 2 3 4 6 12 2. The number 324 is divisible by: 2 3 4 6 9 12 3. The number 420 is divisible by: 2 3 4 5 6 10 12
