  1. Radical Functions Essential Questions • How do we graph radical functions and inequalities? • How do we transform radical functions by changing parameters? Holt McDougal Algebra 2 Holt Algebra 2

  2. In addition to graphing radical functions, you can also graph radical inequalities. Use the same procedure you used for graphing linear and quadratic inequalities.

  3. Graphing Radical Inequalities Graph the radical inequality. Dotted curve 2 times as fast Vertical shift: 3 units down Greater than: shaded above curve

  4. Graphing Radical Inequalities Graph the radical inequality. Solid curve opposite and normal Horizontal shift: 1 unit to the left Vertical shift: 2 units up Less than: shaded below curve

  5. Graphing Radical Inequalities Graph the radical inequality. Dotted curve 2 times as fast Horizontal shift: 1 unit to the right Vertical shift: 3 units down Less than: shaded below curve

  6. Graphing Radical Inequalities Graph the radical inequality. Solid curve Left 2 times as fast Vertical shift: 2 units up

  7. Graphing Radical Inequalities Graph the radical inequality. Solid curve opposite 2 times as fast Horizontal shift: 2 units to the right Vertical shift: 1 unit up Less than: shaded below curve

  8. Graphing Radical Inequalities Graph the radical inequality. Dotted curve opposite 2 times as fast Horizontal shift: 2 units to the left Vertical shift: 1 unit up Less than: shaded below curve
