  1. The Ministry of Sunday School

  2. Our Vision for Sunday School That Sunday School for each child and youth would be a place for ... loving, nurturing relationships that reflect God's love, and that it would be a safe place to explore, question and nurture faith.

  3. As parents you play a vital role in your child’s Christian Education! • As a parent, you are the primary role model for what it means to be an active adult Christian in this busy and sometimes confusing world • Your actions within and outside the church speaks volumes to your child • You are encouraged to walk with your child on their faith journey; you’ll never know how much it means to them

  4. How Does Sunday School Work? The Sunday School Staff is comprised of 37 volunteer teachers along with our Superintendant ,Deb Bacon and Director of Young People’s Music, Sharon Burlacoff. Each week a staff of 16 are present.

  5. What happens on Sunday ? Utilizing the curriculum, teachers spend 1-2 hours preparing for the lesson with fellow teachers and sending parent/students their weekly email. On Sunday: Nursery – Beginners: Begin in their classrooms and stay there for their lesson until the end of the Worship Service Kindergartens: Begin in their classroom, then head to worship as a class and leave at the end of the children’s time. Grade 1-8: Begin in the Sanctuary sitting with their family and then head to class after the children’s time. After the Worship Service Parents with children in Nursery – Grade 4 are asked to pick up their child from their classroom. Prior to Sunday:

  6. What happens ‘in-class’? • Opening Worship (offering, prayer, attendance) • Energizer Game (to introduce the lesson) • The Bible Story (can be read, see video clip, interactive drama) **Please note that we study the bible chronologically • activity or craft • Wrap-up of the lesson (game or art) • Closing prayer said by the students • For the younger grades we attempt to send a take-home sheet with the day’s story and activities to do.

  7. How do we communicate? Each week the Sunday School Teaching Staff receives an email from Cheryl outlining the bible lesson to be taught, resources available and upcoming church events Our goal is to include some of this information in the weekly email that the teachers will then send on to the class/parents so that you too are informed. In order to keep you up to date, it is important that we have your current email. Current Sunday School information is also found on the church website and is printed in the bulletin.

  8. Resources Available ... To supplement your child’s faith journey • Church Library • Sunday School Staff including Teachers, Superintendant and Youth Minister • Worship Choir • Youth Group • Coming Soon ... Recommendations on age-appropriate bibles for you and your child to read at home.

  9. We want to Vision with You ... • We welcome your Feedback • We want to know your goals for your child’s Christian Education?

  10. How can you be a part of the Ministry of Sunday School? • Bring your child to class • Read with your child bible stories • Talk with your child about the lesson taught each week in Sunday School • Continue to vision with us and provide feedback • Assist with the February Sunday School Party or the One-Room Sunday School, held October, December and March.
