Project Tasks Project kickoff with City Assess the district & determine desired building form Develop the regulating plan & 3-D model Develop draft of overlay district standards Review draft(s) with Overlay Advisory Committee & Planning Commission Planning Commission public hearing Revise draft and finalize overlay district Forward overlay district to City Council for adoption

Basic Steps to Developing a Form-Based Code: Commit to developing better places Determine the appropriate type of code desired (district-based, overlay, optional codes, etc.) Evaluate the district to determine which types of building forms should be maintained and which should be transformed into more desirable forms (this often includes public input) Describe the characteristics of the district, and document details to create a pattern Develop code regulations that match the desired forms
