  2. adjectives and adverbs #1 • ADJECTIVES modify nouns or pronouns. They answers the question “WHAT KIND?”, “ WHICH ONE?”, or “HOW MANY/MUCH?”. • ARTICLES are also adjectives (a, an, the). • POSSESSIVE PRONOUNS (our, your, his/her) and POSSESSIVE NOUNS (ex: children’s, Ms. Tucker’s) are diagrammed like adjectives, as they modify a noun or pronoun.

  3. To diagram a sentence with adjectives (or words that modify nouns/pronouns), draw a slanted line from the baseline below the word it modifies. subject predicate direct object adjective #1 adjective #1 adjective #2 adjective #2 adjective #3

  4. EX: Lucy’s older brother oiled her squeaky bicycle wheel. brother oiled wheel Lucy’s her older squeaky bicycle

  5. Copy each of the following and then diagram each. • Those happy fans watched a great race. • Did the famous cyclist win first place? • Many enthusiastic people attended that recent event.
