Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents Master’s with thesis Admission Scholarship • Minimum CGPA of 8.0 / 10 (with the recommendation of the academic unit) • Full-time registration for the duration of the scholarship • Tuition fees (which are currently between $5601 and $5871 per year, depending on the discipline) • RA’s or TA’s of at least $7500 per year • A scholarship of $1000 per year • For 2 years (non renewable) • A total value of at least $28,202 www.grad.uottawa.ca/Default.aspx?tabid=1472 Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies

  8. Canadian Citizens and Permanent ResidentsDEAN’S SCHOLARSHIPSThe Dean’s Scholarship is applicable to all students, regardless of whether they received an Admission Scholarship. However they must have begun their program of studies in May 2006 or later. To receive a Dean’s Scholarship, students will have to complete their degree in accordance with the following tables. Master’s with thesisNon-professional type master’s The FGPS considers a degree is completed when the student submits the version of his thesis used for the oral defense. Students who transfer directly to a PhD within the first 4 sessions of their master’s program will receive the Dean’s Scholarship of $1,500 (psychology students excluded). Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents STUDENT MOBILITY BURSARY • Available to PhD students • PhD program must have begun in May 2006 or later • $4,000 value • Must be recipient of the Admission Scholarship • Will spend at least one session in a foreign institution in either year 3 or year 4 of your program • Authorization from your supervisor is required • Your Academic Unit must confirm that all requirements have been fulfilled • You must submit a research project and a curriculum vitae www.grad.uottawa.ca/Default.aspx?tabid=1476 Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies

  10. International Students Admission Scholarship At the University of Ottawa, each faculty is allocated a budget for international students. Each faculty holds their own competition with their own criteria; scholarships are awarded in accordance to the faculties priorities until the funds are depleted. Your file must be recommended to the FGPS by the faculty with which you have submitted an admission’s application. There are 3 types of international admission scholarships: Full Scholarship includes: • Minimum CGPA of 9.0 / 10 • Full tuition fees (currently $13, 692 / yr) + RA’s or TA’s + yearly scholarship Differential Scholarship includes: • Minimum CGPA of 8.0 / 10 • International fees (you must pay the equivalent of the Canadian fees, currently $5601 or $5871 per year, depending on the discipline) + RA’s or TA’s + yearly scholarship Bourse internationale de la francophonie: • Minimum CGPA of 8.0 / 10 • Must demonstrate an active knowledge of French • You must pay tuition fees of $2500 per year + you will receive RA’s or TA’s + yearly scholarship Minimum amounts for RA’s, TA’s and yearly scholarships are equivalent to the ones offered to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents PhD for 4 years; Master’s with thesis for 2 years; Master’s – non professional for 1 year; all non-renewable Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies

Canadian Citizens, Permanent Residents and International Students DOCTORAL RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP Eligibility requirements • Not be recipient of an admission scholarship • Be registered full-time with no interruption • Have completed all degree requirements except for dissertation • Have an excellent assessment of academic progress from your supervisor and from the director of graduate studies in your academic unit The scholarship expires at the end of the fourth year of the doctorate, at the latest. Canadian Citizens, Permanent residents and International Students EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP An Excellence Scholarship equivalent to tuition fees is awarded to recipients of major external awards (e.g., CIHR, FRQ, NSERC, OGS, SSHRC) excluding recipients in a graduate program at the Telfer School of Management*. • It is valid for each session you are awarded an external scholarship • If you were awarded an Admission Scholarship it will be replaced by the Excellence Scholarship • The Admission Scholarship will be reinstated at the end of the Excellence Scholarship if there are any remaining eligible sessions of the Admission Scholarship • This scholarship does not include any TA’s, RA’s or annual cash payment * Please contact the FGPS or the Telfer School of Management for details Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies

Canadian Citizens, Permanent Residents and International StudentsCONFERENCE TRAVEL GRANT The FGPS recognizes the importance of sharing the work of graduate students with the broader scientific community. • Must be registered as a full-time student at the University of Ottawa when the conference takes place. • Students in a master’s program with thesis (having completed fewer than 6 sessions), the FGPS awards one grant per student for a conference that must takes place in North America (max. $550). Students who wish to travel outside North America receive a maximum of $550. • Students in a doctoral program (must have completed more than 2 sessions and fewer than 15 sessions), a maximum of 3 grants per student can be awarded. Only one grant will be provided per fiscal year (May 1st and April 30th). Two of the trips must take place in North America. No geographic restriction applies to one of the 3 grants (max. $850). Students who choose to travel outside of North America more than once will receive a maximum of $550 for the second trip. • This grant can be used only to pay the cost of travel (train, plane, bus or other) to present research results related to your thesis. www.grad.uottawa.ca/Default.aspx?tabid=1471 Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies

Canadian Citizens, Permanent Residents and International StudentsRESEARCH TRAVEL GRANT The FGPS recognizes that travel by graduate students in the pursuit of research for their thesis or dissertation is important. • Maximum of $500. • Must be registered full-time at the University of Ottawa when travel takes place. • Travel that allows the direct collection of data for a thesis or dissertation in progress (i.e. conduct interviews, perform archival research, visiting a foreign lab). • A single grant for those registered in a master’s program (must have at least 2 sessions completed but less than 6). • A single grant for those registered in a doctoral program (must have at least 3 sessions completed but less than 12). www.grad.uottawa.ca/Default.aspx?tabid=1469 Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies

OTHER SOURCES OF FUNDING • Travel Grants (to present at conferences) • FGPS (2nd floor, Secretary of the Vice-Dean) • Your academic unit • GSAED (601 Cumberland Street) (www.uottawa.ca/gsaed) • Financial Aid and Awards Service • Emergency loans, maximum of $500 (FGPS) • Traditional financial aid (University Centre, 2nd floor) • Departmental Assistantships • Teaching and research assistantships (TAs & RAs), positions as correctors, part-time teaching; please contact your academic unit for more information • Promissory Note Graduate students receiving remuneration of any type from the UO (TA’s, RA’s, part-time teaching contracts, soft funded bursaries, etc.) may get their tuition fees and other UO expenses completely or partially deducted from their salary, interest-free. (max. first 6 sessions) Minimal CGPA: FQRSC - A – (LL.B. 3.55); FQRNT - 3.55; FRSQ - B+ B2 (PhD) $20,000 / yr (max. first 9 sessions) No minimal CGPA You must be a permanent resident of Quebec for at least one year at the time of applying + Excellence Scholarship (this covers tuitions fees only for the same period the “Fonds” is held) Maximum combined funding that can be received for the Master’s and PhD is 15 sessions including funding received from a federal agency. NATIONAL GRANTING AGENCIES ELIGIBILITY: • Canadian citizen or permanent resident • Be applying for support to pursue your first master’s degree or your first Ph.D. degree • Have achieved a first-class average, which is defined by the University of Ottawa as 8.0 / 10, in each of the last two years of full-time studies for a master’s scholarship • There is no minimum GPA required for CIHR and SSHRC for the doctoral scholarship; NSERC does require a GPA of at least 8.0 /10 in each of the last 2 years of full-time studies • Not have already received an award from SSHRC, NSERC, CIHR to fund a degree at the same level Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
