The Ombudsman for Children of Republic of Srpska/ B&H is a new institution which has officially started its work on June 1st 2009. • Between June 1st 2009 and August 1st 2010, the Institution has acted in a total of 201 individual cases. • 7% of complaints were filed by the children personally.

  3. Ombudsman for Children of RS, in this period, has given about 10 different recommendations and initiatives. Some of them are: • Recommendation on harmonization of Family Law of RS with UN CRC; • Recommendation on prohibition to sell alcohol to the children and use of alcohol by children; • Recommendation for changes and amendments of the Criminal Code in cases of sexual abuse of children; • Initiative for passing the Law on Register of Perpetrators of criminal acts against children, and so on. • In this period, the Institution has made several comprehensive researches and investigations in field of sexual abuse on children, alcohol among children, peer bulling, about rights of children whose parents are in prison, and so on.
