  2. OVERVIEW OF ACTION FOR DEVELOPMENT AFORD 2013 • Action for Development (AFORD 2013 Co.Ltd) is amongst the leading Capacity building established for operation in East Africa. IT IS Not for Profit and Non-Sectarian. • AFORD 2013 is committed to contribute to the relief of poverty and distress as it is evident that 4 billion people globally are in living in poverty at the very base of the economic pyramid. • The people living in poverty constitute a significant part of producers and consumers of public and private sector goods and services.

  3. Mission Women, men and children are confident & take responsibilities for their own social and economic development through active engagement in service delivery and productive activities. AFORD facilitates supportive activities through capacity building and knowledge development applying principles of human rights, gender equity and equality; accountability, innovative partnership and entrepreneurship

UPADATE on PLANNED/UPCOMING Activities • ASSIGNMENTS IMPLEMENTED • PCA Assignment: SNV Tanzania • WPMS Assignment Seesaw • SNV Sustainable Sanitation and Hygiene for All (SSH4A) Survey in Kwimba District • MSTCDC/Action Aid Denmark • PROPOSALS/EOI: Submitted • UNICEF (requesting to become local based implementation partner) • Water Aid Proposal ((requesting to become local based implementation partner) • DFID Independent Evaluation For PbR in collaboration with SeeSaw/SNV/Plan Intl. • HDIF Concept Note (Submitted Market Based Menstrual Hygiene Management in Schools) • PROPOSALS: Confirmed: • DFID-EQUIP Tanzania (through Foundation for Civil Society) • SNV Sanitation Customers And Supply Chain Analysis in( Geita and Kwimba district) SEARCHING FOR NEW ASSIGNMENT • UNICEF/GIZ- Fit For School 2nd Mission • SNV Gender Analysis • RETREAT/CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT of AFORD • Follow up on EOIs: UNICEF and Water Aid. • Funds for NGOs

PCA ASSIGNMENT: SNV TANZANIA • An assignment to develop a popular brief the analysis of changes in governance practices and power relations Power and Change Analysis (PCA) reports, in 2008 and in 2012. • Assignment was completed in July 2013. All payments were done in time • Task ahead: • To develop a summary of the assignment • To keep financial records

  6. WPMS ASSIGNMENT SEESAW Water Point Mapping System Review and Data Verification for MoW & DFID AFORD- provided consultancy services (Governance and in-country logistics & stakeholders’ engagement) Assignment Completed

SNV ASSIGNMENTS: SSH4A SURVEYKwimba district • A comprehensive approach to improving sanitation and hygiene in rural areas that addresses the 4 critical components of sanitation and hygiene, namely: • sanitation demand creation, • supply chains and finance, • Behaviour Change Communication • WASH governance. • Supervising Household data collection using mobile phone technology (3 weeks) Assignment completed, progress & process reports submitted

SNV ASSIGNMENTS: Consumer & Sanitation Supply Chain Study Kwimba & GEITA district • CSSC is a component of SSHA • The objective of this study is to collect data and generate information on Demand and Supply for development of market Based Solutions for Increasing Access to improved Latrines in Rural Tanzania

MSTCDC/ACTION AID DENMARKTraining of NGOs Tanzania • Training of 20 members from 10 NGOs implementing WASH/SWASH in Lake Zone (Dec 2013) • Understanding Accountability and LGA Budgets: With reference to WASH In Schools • Key issue: WASH and SWASH as basic human rights issues • How to facilitate planning and budgeting for WASH/SWASH in LGA. • AFORD is leading Lake Zone SWASH Consortium as a result of this training. • Our Activities are also reported on face book: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Action-For-Development-AFORD-2013/527595877338786

  10. MSTCDC/ACTION AID DENMARK- (ToTA-Copenhagen August 2014)1 Josephine attended Advanced Training of Trainers in Denmark

EoIs: Submitted • WATER AID: AFORD responded to a call to become an implementing partner (Waiting for WA response) • UNICEF: AFORD responded to 2 calls for EoIs, • to become implementing partner in Southern Highlands (Iringa Rural & Kilolo)- Waiting for UNICEF response • To become a consultant on draw down basis- Waiting for UNICEF response • DFID INDEPENDENT EVALUATION FOR PBR: in collaboration with See Saw, SNV and Plan International (Not successful) • DFID-HDIF CONCEPT NOTE (MHM)- Not Successful will submit to another donor.

  12. New Assignments and PATNERSHIPS • EQUIP (T) Education Quality Improvement Programme Proposal Submitted in Collaboration with KAWOCONET, through Foundation for Civil Society Location: Shinyanga District Council, 27 Wards, 71 villages. Training of staff completed in December 2014 Field work starts from 15 January 2015

  13. New Assignments and PATNERSHIPS • Partnership with Kiseke Lower Level Local Government Leadership (Mtaa Leadership) from December 2014, after Local Government Elections. • Continued Partnership with MSTCDC, for training of CSOs on Human Rights Based Approach/Governance in WASH and Sanitation Sectors.

  14. WAY FORWARD • HDIF phase II Concept Notes are being prepared for: • SMART Financing of RWS and SWASH in Tanzania • SNV Gender Analysis • Internal Capacity Building of AFORD (retreat and AGM) +strategic Planning 2015 • Documentation: Assignment Briefs • Annual progress and Financial Reports
