  2. BOBBIN Holds the lower thread

  3. BOBBIN CASE • Holds the bobbin

  4. BOBBIN WINDER • Puts thread on the bobbin

  5. FEED DOG • Moves fabric under needle

  6. FOOT FEED • Gives power to the machine

  7. HAND WHEEL • Manually controls the machine

  8. PRESSER FOOT LIFTER • Raises and lowers the presser foot • ALWAYS have the foot DOWN when sewing.

  9. NEEDLE • Takes thread through the fabric

  10. NEEDLE RELEASE • Keeps needle from moving while bobbin is filling Also called Hand Wheel Loosen Knob

  11. PRESSER FOOT • Holds fabric in place • Don’t “pop” it!!!

  12. REVERSE CONTROL • Makes the machine sew backward • (secures stitching)

  13. SEAM GUIDES • Measure distance from needle while sewing

  14. SPOOL PIN • Holds spool of thread

  15. SLIDE PLATE • Covers the bobbin case

  16. STITCHLENGTH REGULATOR • Controls the length of the stitches • Should be on 2.5

  17. STITCH WIDTH CONTROL • Changes machine from straight stitch to zig-zag

  18. TAKE-UP LEVER • Pulls thread off the spool

  19. TENSION UNIT • Controls looseness or tightness of stitches • Don’t change this!!

  20. THREAD GUIDES • Keep thread in place

  21. THROAT PLATE • Covers area under the needle Do not remove.
