World Population projected to reach 9 billion by 2050 Most population growth is concentrated in the world's poorest countries within the poorest regions.

  4. Demographic Transitions the shifts in birth and death rates the transition took place differently in the developed countries and developing countries. The transition describes two trends: the decline in birth rates, and the decline in death rates as public health initiatives and modern medicine increased life expectancy.

  7. Strategies needed to Stop short of 9 Billion What steps can be taken now to check the rapidly growing world population? The steps can be grouped into three categories— Rights- more than 40% of pregnancies worldwide are unintended. There is a significant correlation between lower rates of childbearing and a higher presence of gender equality in the society. 2. Education-On average, educated women have fewer children. 3. Policy-Policymakers, while maintaining human rights, should frame policies that make people realize the costs of an increasing population.

Calculate numbers added by applying the rate of natural increase to the population of the country. 2) What proportion of the world's people live in Africa, Asia, North America, Latin America, Europe and Oceania? Draw a bar chart showing the regional distributions of the world's population for this year, 2025 and 2050. 3) Choose four countries whose populations are growing at a 1.0 percent rate of natural increase or less. 4) Study the Demographic Transition Model. Why do Countries in Stage 1 have little to no population growth? Stage 2, has high birth rates and falling death rates, leading to population growth. What cause’s a country’s death rate to decrease?

Why is women’s education important in controlling the birth rate in developing countries? 2) World Hunger is on the rise. Hunger in a world of plenty? According to you what are the reasons for this growing problem. What are the ways in which the world can combat this challenge? 3) What do think we could do as a global society to help slow population growth in developing countries? 4) Why is gender equality important to control rapid population growth?
