  2. Learning Intention: to make teachers aware of the opportunity for CPD through the League of Exchange for Commonwealth Teachers and the Fulbright Scheme.Success criteria: At the end of this presentation, that one person says that they would now consider going on an exchange.

  3. Bright child Knows the answers Has good ideas Works hard absorbs information Copies accurately Gifted child Asks the questions Has wild silly ideas Plays around yet tests well Manipulates information Creates a new design Bright child….Gifted Learner

Further, Higher, Stronger • People • Mime a series of Olympic events to the class • Explain the meaning of the Olympic symbols e.g. rings, flags, motto etc. • Word • Write and post a letter to a team or competitor • Why were some countries absent from Moscow 1980 and Los Angeles 1984? • Logic and Maths • Maths and Logic • Write a maths problem that includes the number of people at the Opening ceremony and the cost of admission. • Conduct a survey to find out people’s favourite Olympic event and present it in a pie chart • Space and visual • Design a poster to promote the 2000 Sydney games • Plot the previous Olympic venus on a map of the world

Body • Perform a dance to the “Chariots of Fire” • Make a series of human sculptures to depict sporting heroes • Music • Make up a rap about the Olympics • Produce a 30 second jingle to advertise the 2000 Olympics in Sydney • Self • Describe a sport that you think you could possible succeed in one day at the Olympics • Place your picture in the middle of a star and write five qualities on the points that reflect the Olympic spirit.

  6. Activities • Tournament of Minds • National History Challenge • Maths Association of Victoria • Maths Olympics (basically testing) • 3RPH (reading competition run by a local radio station) • Future Problem Solvers (run by Deakin University)

  7.
