PHIN VADS 3.0.1 Content Update (released July 20th 2009) • Value Set Updates: New Views with value sets related to the following message implementation guides have been added / updated: • CDA Public Health Case Reporting • H1N1 Flu Case Reporting Form • Case Notification Message Mapping Guides (Measles, Mumps, Summary, Generic, Arbovirus) • NBS Application • PHLIP Flu Lab Report (includes new H1N1 Flu LOINC codes) • 2. Code System Updates: This has been done mainly to support the above mentioned value sets. • a) SNOMED Jan 31st 2009 Version • b) NDF-RT Drug Classification • c) HL7 V3 • d) CDC NNDSS • e) CDC PHIN Questions (Data elements)

Mapping of Public Health Data Elements to LOINC • Map to existing LOINC codes • Submit new LOINC Codes • Create new LOINC Panels – Generic, H1N1, TB, ELR • Create new LOINC Class – Public Health Epidemiology Questions • 3. Binding between Public Health Data Elements (questions) and Value Sets (Answer list) present in PHIN VADS. • 4. Implementation (Proposal) • Message Mapping Guide – Add a Column (LOINC Data Element Identifier). • Legacy Data Element Identifiers (PHIN Variable ID’s) will be present for backward compatibility and mapping. • Many Legacy Data Elements may map to single LOINC code. • When LOINC does not provide codes, legacy PHIN Questions will be used.
