  1. Honoring the Word of the Lord (Acts 13:36-52)

  2. We honor God’s Word… By receiving it, not rejecting it 46 Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: "We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles. 48 When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed. • The Message: “…they honored God’s Word by receiving that life.”

  3. We honor God’s Word… By being doers, not merely hearers James 1:22-25(NLT) 22 But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. 23 For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. 24 You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. 25 But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.

Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

  6. We honor God’s Word… By being disciples and making disciples John 8:31-32 Jesus said … “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

We honor God’s Word… By being disciples and making disciples Matthew 28:18-20(NLT) 18Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

We honor God’s Word… By spreading His Word 48 When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord…49The word of the Lord spread through the whole region. • We do this by sharing our testimony • sharing the hope that we have, proclaiming the message of reconciliation • inviting people to hear the gospel proclaimed • inviting people into our gospel soaked lives

  9. We honor God’s Word… By being glad! 48When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord… NASB translates it: “When the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord; and as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed.”
