OUR VISION LUTB : long term vision 2015 > A reference in Europe and around the world, from research to building of urban mass transport systems for passengers and goods. > Balanced, innovative solutions, tried and tested in the field, addressing the social, economic and industrial challenges that urban transport presents. LUTB short term vision 2008 : A recognized initiative visible through - Federative projects - First output of R&D projects - ‘des processus maîtrisés’ - A European cooperation network

Association The association LUTB has 61 members (Sept 2007) • Industrials  : 50 including 29 SMEs (Volvo Trucks, Irisbus-Iveco, Plastic Omnium, Michelin, France Telecom, Siemens VDO, …) • Scientifics: 8 (Lyon University, INSA, IFP, INRETS,…) • Users : 2 (Keolis, Alliance Logistique) • Institutions : 1

Competitiveness cluster + Automotive cluster Main issues Coordinations towards all the actors of the local automotive sector (including industrial, research cebters, service providers ….) more than 900 industrials and organisms Strengthen the leadership of the local automotive sector. Improve the competitiveness of the companies of this sector with 3 priorities : - The global performance of manufacturing - Innovation and R&D - Access to global markets

  9. Global production performance • Lean Management Institute for lean production • Alfa program (shared information system between manufacturers and suppliers) • Visit of companies to study the best practice

  10. Access to global markets • Collective pavillon on trade shows (Equip’Auto- Paris, IAA Hanover, Automechanika-Frankfurt • Missions towards OEMs and tier 1 suppliers • - Communication at various events and congresses (SAE Diesel in Chicago, MUTA Montreal)

  12. R&D Projects • 40 R&D projects have been labelized (Global amount 50 millions €) • 65 SME and 39 laboratories taking part • 13 projects being subsidized sofar • Subsidies : 13 billion €

Provided Services • Building a Club, and developping collective actions • - Creativity and reflexion permanent group (Think tank) • - Convention INPI-Lyon Urban Truck & Bus • Intelligence services (strategic, economic, technology…) • Ecole de l’innovation – Innovation School to develop R&D project with various partners • Collaborative information system (secured Internet workingplateform …) • Regularly organising meeting to allow formal presentation and unformal meetings between members.

THINK TANK Main objective - Gather members and bring them to think the future (Prospective vision, club) - Think about the evolution and technology roadmap for the 4 R&D programs The issue - Providing an overview for the issues of the pole - Place these issues in the wider environment (socialogical, economic, …) - Break the short term technology vision Meetings organised all year long - Identify new R&D projets - Building up project teams.

  15. 3 year convention with INPI • The 4 programs get 50% founding by the INPI • Prestation RISC : Patent research • PI policy for SMEs • Training for members and LUTB team • Observation and sector intelligence for each R&D program
