  9. Characteristics of Analytical Cubism • Breaking a piece down into it's basic geometric components on one picture plane • analysis of the subjects (pulling them apart into planes)

  10. Characteristics of Synthetic Cubism • pushing of several objects together • Collage--physical pieces of newspaper clippings, journals, sheet music were added to the composition • fewer planar shifts • less shading and flatter space
