  2. What is DACA? DACA is relief from the deportation of young adults who entered the United States illegally as a child (under 16 years of age). It will allow undocumented immigrants to remain in the U.S. with legal immigrant status without fear of deportation for 2 years. Eligible immigrants will be able to receive a social security number, in-state tuition at CUNY, public health insurance, and a state ID. With DACA, students can also apply for scholarships for college. Over 85% of illegal immigrants in the U.S. that qualify for DACA are Latina/os, the largest subgroup being from Mexico and Central America.
