The student's recommendations concerning membership of the examining committee should be based on knowledge of the nominated faculty members' academic and professional backgrounds, research interests, and availabilities, supplemented by discussions with the nominees, and by discussions with the student's faculty advisor. The examining committee should be composed of at least 5 faculty members. At least 3 members of the examining committee must be from the Department of Systems and Information Engineering (not including jointly appointed faculty).
