  1. How to answer the ‘Study all sources’ question Marking Scheme is as follows : L3- Agrees OR Disagrees using source details (one-sided) (3-4 m) 3m for support from 1 source and 4m for additional sources (+1m) for correct Non Face Value analysis You should NOT aim to score only L3

  2. L4 - Agrees AND Disagrees, supported from source details only (4-7 m) At least 1 source considered beyond face value (9) 4m = 2 sources – Both sides (weak) 5m = 2 sources – 1 strong + 1 weak 6m = 2 sources - Both sides (strong) 6m = 3 sources – Both sides (strong & weak) 7m = 3 sources – Both sides (strong) Weak answers – weak-sound. Strong answers –strong-sound. This would mean your infer and support with source details to answer the question. And you MUST aim for 7 marks.

  3. L5 - L4 + cross-refer to background information (BI) or contextual knowledge (CK) (8-10) Award 1m for each relevant BI or CK used (one-sided) OR explains beyond face value (BF) to a maximum of 3m. This means that for each source you used to discuss- you have to substantiate with BI or CK.

  4. What is the best way to answer this question? You must focus on at least 3 sources (4 would be better, just in case one of it is wrong). One source must have contradictory view of the statement, that is, either agree or disagree. In one paragraph, you discuss one source. Do not lump everything together.

  5. Format of the writing out the answer Introduction Sources XY agree with the statement but source Z disagrees (or prove – depending on the question). In each paragraph Inference + source details + refute OR disagree using BI or CK For example : Source X states that inference. In the source it states that ….. This implies that ….. This is true / or false because from what I have learnt…. Conclusion – ‘how far?’

  6. L6 – Evaluate how far (10m)
