Macbeth Comparison The poetry covered in class was actually pretty great. Especially when we got into iambic pentameter; being allowed to create our own poems with iambic pentameter helped me, personally, understand the style of writing even more. As for The Tyger & The Lamb, both sections were very well taught and understood. I guess one thing to change would be having a bit more of a selection of poetry to learn from. Having a choice in the material helps encourage students to understand and want to learn the material more. Macbeth by Shakespeare: I would say that Macbeth was a pretty hard unit especially having to go back and forth between No Fear Shakespeare and the play itself to understand what was going on. The class work we had received help a bit with the understanding of the play. Watching the play and reviewing what had been going on helped a lot more than just sitting and reading the play. I suggest that in the future there be more explanation of the play as the class works through the play in order to help students understand more. The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde: The Importance of Being Earnest was definitely more understood when we had started watching the movie. It's the same thing with Macbeth in the whole, it's easier to watch rather than read the play write. Watching the movie helped form the characters better because the groups didn't have to try hard to keep track of the characters themselves. Other than that, the work was fairly easy, both to do and understand. This unit personally was really fun to learn about. Dialectical Journals & Discussions: I understand how the dialectical journals and discussions were put in place to benefit us as a class but they had pushed me away from wanting to read the books assigned. Having annotations and worksheets helps me want to learn more and allow me to flow through the book rather than having to stop when I find something I find interesting and spend a few minutes trying to put a response together. But writing the essays had been easier having the quote the page the quote was on. The discussions were pretty great when I had a group that is.
