  2. The “Perfect Storm" • Increased Demand • Reduced Funding • Increased Costs • Massive change

  3. The Growth of the Sector in Hastings

  4. Number of registered volunteering enquiries handled by HVA per year The projected number for 2012 takes into account the reduction in service due to budget cuts

  5. Volunteering • HVA handled 755 registered volunteering enquiries • Part of Volunteer Centre East Sussex • Celebrate as 200th person achieved qualification • Need for future funding for volunteering infrastructure

  6. Information and Membership • Continue regular and meaningful information for groups • Brief new members and officers • Assemble information to present the sector from a position of strength • HVA’s main e-bulletin has circulation of 950 direct recipients; HVA has 1550 Facebook friends

  7. Member Support In depth support to 152 Hastings organisations 27 Training courses 394 learners Provided space for 505 meetings with bursary offered to new groups Payroll, HR advice, support, mentoring, small grants.

  8. Representation • 3 Year Tudor Trust funding to support Hastings Community Network • Training to representatives • Campaigns and “practical representation” • 10 year anniversary celebrated…

  9. Specialist Services Links – One stop shop celebrated as good practice Hate crime service – Additional support to the most vulnerable victims of crime, incidents and discrimination.

  10. Supporting inward investment Funding advice provided to 679 voluntary organisations in East Sussex over 3 years At least £2m inward investment achieved for groups Improved financial systems.

  11. “Promises, Promises” • A new community base for Hastings • New sources of small grants • New organisations to deliver services to support the future of the Town

  12. Is the Community Asset Transfer agenda our “Get out of jail free card”? Matching Buildings made vacant because of the “shrinking state”… …With the needs of a growing voluntary sector whose role in service delivery will increase
