  2. Lit Terms • 1. Archetype- Symbol, story pattern, character type found in the literature of many cultures. • 2. Imagery- When writing allows you to paint a picture in your head. • 3. Aphorism- A short statement that expresses a wise observation about human experience. • 4. Hyperbole- Exaggeration • 5. Parallelism- Words, phrases, or sentences with similar grammatical form.

  3. Lit Terms • 6. Allusions- Referencing history or literature in writing. • 7. Rhetorical Devices (used for persuasion) • Ethos- Appeal to character • Logos- Appeal to logic • Pathos- Appeal to emotion • 8. Connotation- Suggested or implied meanings associated with words.
