  2. Russian Winters • Russia is known for its cold, snowy winters. • The people of Russia told folk tales that included stories about their adventures during the winter months. • One such story is “Little Daughter of the Snow.”

  3. Little Daughter of the Snow • This story is about a man and woman who could not have children. • One day, the man and woman decided to make a little girl out of snow. • The snow girl was beautiful, and the man and woman were very proud of her.

  4. The Snow Girl • Of course, the little girl was only made of snow, so the man and woman were sad that she was not real. • But one day, something magical happened. • The little daughter of the snow began to come alive!

  5. Little Daughter of the Snow • Many girls in Russia have dolls that look like the Little Daughter of the Snow. • It is a very popular fairy tale, that people in Russia read every day.

  6. Little Daughter of the Snow • We will now read the story as a class, and we will discuss what happens to the snow girl, as well as the man and woman. • What do you think will happen to the little daughter of the snow?
