  2. Facts about Berlin Berlin is the capital city of Germany Berlin is the largest city In Germany One third of the city is open spaces It is a top international tourist attraction Berlin has held many international sporting events including the football world cup final in 2006

  3. Berlin TV tower It was constructed between 1965 and 1969 and it is 368m tall From the viewing platform you can see 42km on a clear day At the top there is a café that rotates every 30mins Lifts take people to the top In 40secs and there is 986 steps

  4. Berlin wall It was built in 1961 to separate east Germany and west Germany It was 155km long and it was 3.6m high There were 302 watch towers with border guards It was torn down in 1989 by the people

  5. Brandenburg Gate It was built from 1788 and completed in 1791 The gate was built to represent peace and FreidrichWilhelm II asked for it to be built Between 1814 and 1919 only the royal family were allowed to pass through the central archway

  6. Olympic stadium The capacity is 74,064 It was built between 1934 and 1936 It was used for the 2006 football world cup and the 1936 summer Olympics It is the second biggest in Germany

  7. The Reichstag The Reichstag is the main building of the German parliament It opened in 1894 and used until 1933 when the Nazis burnt it They used it again from the 1990s it was restored by British architect called Norman Foster

  8. Berlin zoo It was opened in 1844 It had about 1500 different species In 2012 it had 3million tourists! It is considered to be the most visited zoo in Europe
