  7. Godliness in Doctrine • Truth accords with godliness, Titus 1:1 • Truth harmonizes with and produces godliness • We must know truth in order to live godly, 2 Pet 1:3 (Jno 8:31-32) 7

  8. Godliness in Doctrine • What we teach must agree with godliness, 1 Tim 6:3 • Sound teaching is consistent with godliness, 2 Tim 2:15-18 • Doctrines that are against godliness include those that sanction adulterous remarriages, social drinking, immodesty, dancing, easy divorce, etc. 8

  10. Godliness in the Home • Obedience to parents shows godliness, 2 Tim 3:2; Rom 1:30 • Right before God, honor and blessing, Eph 6:1-3 • Hear and obey – blessed, Prov 1:8; 23:22 10

  11. Godliness in the Home • Thankfulness is a mark of godliness, 2 Tim 3:2 • Shows respect for parents and God • Shows natural affection, 2 Tim 3:3 • Godliness is not “hard hearted” toward kindred, Rom 1:31 (1 Tim 5:4) 11

  13. Godliness in a Nation • Nations fail and fall when godliness is extinguished, Prov 14:34; Psa 144:15 • God removes wicked rulers and their kingdoms, Daniel 2:21 • Preserve by godliness, cf. Matthew 5:13 13

  14. The Power of Godliness • We must be driven by the power of godliness • Individual…local church…home… nations…in all we teach and do • A life devoted to pleasing God can make a difference! • Let the power of godliness work in your life 14
